head gear...

I am now officially follicley challenged ... to say the least!
Chris has actually shaved all my hair off! so I now I look like...

Oh I wish!
how beautiful does Sinead O'Connor look!

No not as glam, but we had a laugh doing it, and a few tears,
Sonny says I look cool! 'bald is beautiful' he said and then said, 'please mum, can I show all my mates!!'
... mmmmm ...
and when I lay with him in bed on a night he runs his hands over my stubbly head and says he loves me! ahhhh, through the eyes of a child... wish I saw 'cool' when I looked in the mirror!

So
I've been on a mission to find something to wear to cover up the fact that I look like an extra from Star Trek and turn it all around into a positive,
it's a chance to buy some fantastic scarves and experiment with a new look! mmmmm, it's a lot harder than it sounds!
I've been looking for inspiration...

but finding it hard to find some nice scarves... not being brave enough to be too loud and look like Carmen Miranda!
I've found some lovely vintage scarves on eBay and Etsy and got very distracted by some of the amazing designs on some, especially Vera Neumann...

Very inspirational for colour and my screen printing.
But I'm too much of a fradey cat to wear them ...don't really want to draw attention to myself, So I've found some low key paisley ones instead!

There's a big trend for turbans at the moment too....

How beautiful!...
again, don't think I could pull this one off, I think I might lean more towards...

I do sing a little like hilda!
If anyone knows of any lovely scarf shops or has any inspiration I'd love to hear it :)
and so my quest continues.....!

.... just as an after thought, here's me sporting a paisley number!....

....yip, new name, Hilda!!

  1. I used to wear a polka dot red bandanna when I had short hair and loved it! I literally wore it every day!
I love your Vera scarves - you can't go wrong with these.
I bet you look much better than you think!
    Take care,

  5. Lisa, I think the shape of your face lends itself to wearing scarves and any of them will look wonderful on you. The loss of hair hasn't taken away from your looks at all.

  6. Without the curlers and underneath the tabard, I think Hilda was pretty hip! My Godmother's having radiotherapy at the moment and said it's the first time she's bought a liberty scarf without the guilt....My bank balance would mean searching on ebay for some liberty scarves..but, still, they are looovely! x

  8. Ooh Lisa what fab scarves etc you have found! I like that red turban one, and the vera scarves, wow. The turban needs the flowy bit of hair, attach some fake bits to the bottom?? :D I think you would look just great in the brighter colours, honestly. I saw some lovely scarves whilst sat in the arcade(tea shop) down from Bettys in Harrogate, it's upstairs, It had quite a lot of choice?. There is also a Hair place on Dewsbury rd, does wigs etc, next to the Cupcake shop, just down from Jct 40 heading to Wakefield. It's to do with hair loss tricology etc, it looks quite chic?? Wishing you all the best with your search. X julie

  20. Hermès edited some "knotting cards". You will find there a lot of different ways of knotting and wearing your scarf :

  21. Hi Lisa - I am a follower of your blog. My name's Ella - hi! My mum's just had a mastectomy and is just about to have her last Chemo on Monday, so I know a little bit what you're going through. I just wanted to wish you well, and say you look fab in your scarf!!
Also, I thought I would recommend this website http://www.suburbanturban.co.uk/
Although the layout is a bit old fashioned and the name is a bit odd, they do some really nice scarves and also some really nice cotton jersey hats, which my mum has just lived in. I would definitely recommend getting one of those. And they have some nice styles with ruches and ties and things that are nice and flattering.
All the very best, Ella xxx
