Runswick Bay

We are in full holiday mode!

Yesterday we spent the day at Runswick Bay, a totally unspoilt tiny dot of a seaside village with no amusements, no rides, and not even a fish and chip shop! ( just a little cafe selling home made cakes, scones, tea, hot chocolate and prawn sandwiches! Oh and ice cream of course!!) It's just a wonderful stretch of beach perfect for fossil hunting,

skimming pebbles, squelching ( ooo I love that word!) wet sand and collecting sea in a blue bucket.

digging holes,

sifting through pebbles,

jumping the tide,

being creative,

burying feet and

feeling the sand between your toes!

We then drove onto Robinhoods bay for Chish & Fips because it's the law when you've spent the day at the good 'ole British sea side! It was just great being a kid again on the beach and enjoying Lil, Sonny and Sky enjoy being kids too,
it's a tonic!

Lil Sonny Sky's book of the week...

'A la Volette' by Cecile Bonbon
I can't speak or read French ( proof when I went to Marrakech! ) but I can really appreciate these beautiful illustrations by Cecile Bonbon. We kind of make the story up as we go along, so great for the imagination! Check out more of Bonbon's beautiful needlework work here.

Kid's Republic

I was looking for ideas for decorating Sonny's bedroom and found this.
This looks like the best children's book shop I've ever seen!
Kid's Republic in Beijing, oooo how I'd love to take Lil, Sonny & Sky there! ( and do Sonny's bedroom like this!) So inspiring!

messing about in the river

We had a lovely sunny weekend in Oxford  paddling, fishing for cray fish, eating chips and ice lolly's and enjoying being outside in the sunshine.
Hope you had a fab weekend!

the start of the summer hols....

dancing in the rain...

well it's tradition and so far it's rained on and off for a week now!

We've been walking the girls to a free weeks summer school at school of fun & sports which they love doing, but Son's too young, so we called for chocolate ice cream for breakfast for the walk back as you do...

Then podding peas (to go with that lovely summery dish of bangers & mash and Yorkshire puds!!...to go with the rain really!)

whilst watching my childhood favourite Bugsy Malone, which the kids absolutely love!
Sonny's walking around singing " so you wanna be a boxer" and Sky and Lil "my name is Tallulah!"

They especially love the end!...

Not much personal creative work to show this week due to the hols, in fact I need to set a day aside to plan some work and book some time in the screen printing studio, in the meantime I'm enjoying my rainy time with kids.

We're going down to Oxford tomorrow to visit friends for the weekend
so have a very hap-pea smiley fab weekend!

Manchester City Art Gallery...

In the interactive gallery Lil & Son chose to draw a monster!
and they did an ace job!....

It was proudly displayed on the wall in the Gallery you can see it in the mirror!

The gallery it sooooooo kiddy friendly and really inspires them,
like putting yourself into a painting and the characters shoes...

or making your own landscape inspired by the works of art around you...

writing your name in objects...

writing and drawing your dream destination and tying it to a suitcase...

touching...

We had a fab time, we always do, and will be revisiting in the holidays!
China town is just round the corner so you can have a bowl of noodles after when your creatively exhausted!
It's such a lovely family friendly gallery, there should be more!
