Monday Christmas give-away !!
The Give-away is now closed, Thanx so so much everyone for commenting and see here for the winners!!
Because I love Christmas and
Because I want to say thank you for stopping by my 'Lil blog and commenting and
Because I wanted to spread a little pre-Christmas cheer, and start getting into the spirit of Christmas!
So here is a little Christmas goody bag I've made up...
The Haribo is for an emergency energy boost if you're feeling exhausted ( it helps if you wash them down with a full fat coke) OR for those with little ones as a bribe whilst out Christmas shopping.
All you have to do is tell us what's the best thing about Christmas for you in the comment box.
On Friday 'Lil will draw the winner out of a Santa hat, then I'll send the Christmas give-away to you as fast as I can!
This is the first of three on the run up to Christmas so there's more chance to win a freebie!
OK, I'll start, The best thing about Christmas for me is cozy-ing up with all my kids and my better half on the sofa, with the log fire going, lights low, Christmas tree twinkling and scrooge on the TV ( preferably the Muppet one, but I'm easy we have 6 versions!!) glass of something warming in one hand and chox/mince pie/ nuts and cracker all at arms length, magic!
what's the best thing about Christmas for you?
The best thing about Christmas is the preparation. Shopping and making things and then trying to wrap them as beautifully as possible. Watching our daughter decorate the tree. Planning the menu and baking special goodies. And listening to Christmas music while playing a board game with my family!
ReplyDeleteOoo I like this one! The best thing about Christmas for me is looking out for all the colourful lights in windows on the way home from work, making things for the school christmas fayre parent's craft stall, visiting Leeds to (window) shop in the Victoria Quarter, seeing a HUGE Christmas movie at the IMAX in Bradford, making sweets and eats with the children as for gifts for the family, and listening to my favourite jazz music with a glass of wine in hand.... mmmmm that cheered up a dull Monday at the office! ;) x
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about Christmas is the twinkle in my little girls's eyes when we put up all the decorations in the house... their help with the preparations... all of the wonderful soothing smells of Christmas dinner... the anticipation when they see their presents for the first time. Just the family being together enjoying the lazy days of the holidays.
ReplyDeleteThis year will be extra special as it will be my little Paloma-Faith-fan's first Christmas that she'll celebrate Christmas really conscious of it all... and she's already looking forward to it!
For me, the best thing about Christmas is having my big brother home for the holidays. I get to laugh and joke with him, and my son gets to wrestle around with his uncle. And it's the only time mom uses Nan's jam-jam recipe so that's a bonus!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I don't know if it's the best part, but one of my favorite parts is all the guilt free food. You have to indulge, it's the holidays!!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Christmas is cooking with my mam sharing girly confidences while the men light up the chimeney and the guests start arriving. I live in Canada and my mam in Spain so this time is just great for catching up and sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing this year will be having an 18 month old to share it with. We really didn't know what Christmas was until we had a little one & seeing the joy & delight in a child's eyes as they discover new things is just great. For us, this year it will be all about the little one. He is our little ray of sunshine. It will be truly magical!
ReplyDeleteSo many things to love about Christmas. On the shallow end, I can't go past the delight of a good mince pie. Or the sound of wrapping paper being torn off by excited children! On the more meaningful end I love being reminded of God reaching out to us in the form of a little babe... that has a real impact on me.
ReplyDeleteOh and I'd love to win your goodies, although I did already nab myself some 'joy' cards, because they are just too beautiful!
i love abandoning our everyday routine and going with the flow of being together. wearing jammies 'till 11, having pie for breakfast, watching the grinch, blasting christmas carols through the house, etc. we have to make several stops on christmas but no matter how harried we are...we maintain that attitude. if we're together, its fabulous.
ReplyDeletebetter later than never!! the best thing about Christmas for me is getting that early morning cuppa and watching the kids open their stockings. Sometimes I'm up before the kids!! xx
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about Christmas for me is spoiling the people I love and feasting and playing together. It's summer so we have Christmas picnics and party outdoors all night because it's so warm. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeletethe best thing about Christmas is getting to go home to Melbourne for 2 weeks to see my family and friends that I haven't seen in months.
ReplyDeleteAnd the fruit mince pies!
the best thing about christmas is candy cane ice cream! i can't get enough of it and it saddens me that it only comes around once a year!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah - a little early christmas cheer is just the ticket!
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about xmas for me is getting dressed up with my little family & heading out to xmas lunch at a nice hotel - it's special, it's fun & it's a tradition all our own. Ah.... I'm already getting excited about it!
Wow so many things, you are both talented and generous!
ReplyDeleteok, its hard to pick the best thing about Christmas because I love it all...the baking, the making and wrapping of gifts, looking at the Christmas theme windows in the department stores in town, delicious seafood and amazing tropical fruit (I'm in Australia!), spending time with family, but I think my favourite thing is after the chaos of pressie opening, and after the big Christmas Day lunch where you always eat too much, I love it when everyone just chills out and takes a nap. Whether its on the couch, or in bed, on the floor or in the hammock. Its such a satisfied, sated feeling. Most of the insanity of Christmas is over, your tummy is full and you're with loved ones. Its time to relax!

The best thing about Christmas is thinking about all the people you love in your life and if you are lucky - spending a relaxing afternoon with them after you have stuffed yourself with food.
ReplyDeleteYey! What booty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great prize. Your work is awesome and Haribo absolutely rocks!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat don't I love about Christmas?! Childish excitement, togetherness and champagne.

The bestest thing about Christmas is family and better yet this year I have an 18 month year old baby girls to share the excitment. I loved your square from the quilt project - super inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about Christmas is watching my two Irish Setter Dogs open their Christmas presents (yes, I know- I sound like a crazy dog girl- but who could deny a doggy a pressie). They rip open the wrapping with such joy and enthusiasm, and then run around with their new squeaky toy for the rest of the day with complete adoration in their eyes.
ReplyDelete-So cute!

Hmm there is nothing more exciting and magical than Christmas - the happiness that is in the air and that you get to watch the kids open their presents with such intense joy on their faces.
ReplyDeleteAnd I get to drink champagne for breakfast and eat lollies!! Perfect!

The bestest thing about Christmas is the pre-christmas think-tank. It's where I make a list of those I will be giving presents and then deciding what to make them all! I love it and then the stress kicks in about 5 minutes after!
ReplyDeletewow this all looks wonderful! I love being on holidays, its all good!
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about Christmas to me is the FOOD! ha. I think it is seeing my daughters' eyes light up when the Christmas lights get lit for the first time. That's pure magic reflected back at me! Thanks for the chance to win!

The best part of Christmas for me is that I actually get to see my family. I live far farfarfar away from them all and they live just about every where but here and Christmas seems to be the only time we all get to get together. We all gather at my parents house. and it's just wonderful no matter what we are doing because we're all actually together.
ReplyDeleteOne of my fave christmas traditions is going to look at all the Christmas lights. So many people go to so much trouble it blows me away! The kids love it and there just seems to be a greater sense of community spirit around at this time of year!

Call me a dag, but one of the best parts of Christmas to me are all those great old Christmas hymns and the fantastic Christmas service and Carols by Candlelight my church always has! And, of course, gorging on all the scrumptious food prepared by various family members for our Christmas feast!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteFor me the first best thing about Christmas is always (since I seem to be the first awake...a long time traight of mine...ask my mum) the first sounds of my kids waking and finding that Santa has been. Chele x
Homemade custard for the pudding and being able to have champagne early in the morning!!
ReplyDeleteI just love the look on the kids faces when they see the tree first thing in the morning - it is priceless.
ReplyDeleteWow, your goody bag is amazing!! Thanks for the chance to win :)
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about Christmas for me is going to my local pub on Christmas Eve and having happy drinks with my closest friends and everyone else I've ever met (we always end up at the same place every year!) and then waking up knowing I'm going to get to spend the whole day and night with my darling family... It is just the *best* time of year :)
Oh what an absolutely gorgeous give-away. For me the best thing about Christmas is gazing at all the presents, wrapped and ready to delight, nestled around the tree on Christmas Eve. I get butterflies in my stomache and I get so excited to see the way the children's faces light up the following morning. I just love it.
ReplyDeletesneaking in and popping little gifts is my favourite thing to do. But it's all good, lights food, gift wrapping
